Behind the scenes of the fight between Aníbal Fernández and Axel Kicillof

Hannibal Fernandez does not tolerate The Campora. It is a distance that is born almost from a question of skin -it must be remembered that he comes from the old guard of Peronism-, but that was undoubtedly aggravated by the 2015 campaign. Today, seven years later, the The current Minister of Security continues to think that “the boys” played against him in the Buenos Aires election.

But all this happened a long time ago. However, the crosses between Fernández and Kirchnerism are increasing. Despite the fact that Hannibal was always a man close to Cristina Kirchner, since he assumed the portfolio, he enlisted under the wing of Alberto, and from there he starred in several crosses. Now, in an interview, he treated La Cámpora as a “calamity” that his friend had to deal with, at the height of the pandemic and the war. It must be taken into account that the minister is one of the few who insists on the re-election of the President.

To this escalation was added the war of crosses with the Buenos Aires governor. With insecurity escalating in the Province, the minister decided to send a command of forces to Buenos Aires. That drew angry criticism from both Axel Kicillof as well as his Minister of Security, the always controversial Sergio Berni. “Hannibal, don’t fuck with Buenos Aires,” launched the doctor and soldier, among other darts. “Guys, if you’re watching another channel, it’s not my fault,” Aníbal returned.

Even the governor himself joined the controversy, and assured that the Nation was holding back the sending of gendarmes. In the background, the fight for the elections looms over this battle. Kicillof has already expressed his intentions to compete for re-election, but he has no less than a stumbling block: the bulk of the funds that it has to manage come from those sent by the Nation. How far can you, in the middle of the electoral campaign, collide with the President and his followers? Scioli, former governor, had to campaign against Kirchnerism -then in the Presidency- and that’s how it ended.
