Fireworks, smoke pots and torches. They are fantastic for the atmosphere, but also cause a lot of nuisance. So behave yourself and leave it at home, otherwise the M-stand may have to be closed. FC Den Bosch has sent its fans an open letter with that message.
Den Bosch’s match against Volendam had to be stopped last week because fans threw smoke bombs, sausage rolls and beer on the field.
“Due to this kind of misconduct by a number of supporters, FC Den Bosch has already received various fines this season from the disciplinary committee of the KNVB. Fines that are linked to a suspended sentence with probation. In other words: these fines cost your club a lot of money”, FC Den Bosch states in the open letter posted on the club website.
Close grandstand
The club would rather spend that money on other things, such as a better selection or better facilities. In addition, the KNVB may impose stricter penalties, she warns. “Such a possible, more severe penalty is, for example, closing a certain stand sector or even the entire M-side.”
The club also draws attention to troublemakers that torches and smoke pots are bad for your health. “The torches and smoke pots are highly toxic. Carcinogenic even. A coat catches fire, with all possible consequences.”
no beer
Beer and sausage rolls are also not allowed to be thrown. “Don’t throw objects and cups on the playing field either. These kinds of unwanted actions are not necessary to create atmosphere. You can do that without it.”
Fans are asked to confront each other about wrong behavior. “Don’t let a small number of supporters ruin it for the vast majority.”
Incidentally, Den Bosch lost the match against Volendam with 1-2, so that the away club was promoted to the Eredivisie.
