The 800th anniversary of the Begijnhof is celebrated with a number of festivities. Although they are organized with respect for the tranquility that the Begijnhof radiates. “It is not easy to pop while we are at a silence and shelter. But it is about celebrating with a low volume button,” says Kasper Verhelst, curator of the festival ‘Sauve Garde- protected and salvaged’.

The opening spectacle will take place on 6, 7 and 8 June, where air acrobats perform a choreography in the treetops. During the festival, the Bruges police will monitor compliance with the rules that protect the tranquility of the beguinage, such as the ban to walk in the grass between the daffodils.
