Before World Cup game against Germany: Slovak selection wins – ice hockey

In Season A in Helsinki, Germany’s group opponents Slovakia had a hard time completing their mandatory task against France. The Olympic bronze medalist defeated the Russia followers in the time-honoured “Helsingin Jäähalli” 4:2 (1:0, 2:2, 1:0).

Pavol Regenda (11th, 60th/Empty Net), NHL professional Tomas Tatar (22nd) and Samuel Takac (39th) scored for the Slovaks. Anthony Rech (27th) from the Grizzlys Wolfsburg from the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) and Jordann Perret (33rd) were successful for France.

Finland leaves Norway no chance

On Saturday (May 14th, 2022), the Slovaks will meet the selection of the German Ice Hockey Federation (DEB), who conceded a 3: 5 against the defending champion and record world champion Canada on Friday. Parallel to the game of the DEB team, Olympic champion and runner-up world champion Finland started the tournament with a sovereign 5:0 against Norway.

USA easily beats Latvia

Co-favorite USA made a successful start to the Ice Hockey World Championships in Finland. Third in the World Cup defeated outsiders Latvia in Group B in Tampere 4-1 (3-0, 1-0, 0-1). At the same time, Riley Barber (8th), Seth Jones (11th), Thomas Bordeleau (12th) and Sam Lafferty (21st) scored the goals for the USA. Andris Dzerins (42nd) ensured the Latvians made a good result. The German referee Marian Rohatsch officiated the match as one of two main referees.
