Before the last game for VfL Wolfsburg and the move to the USA, national goalkeeper Almuth Schult is not opposed to a later comeback in the women’s Bundesliga.

“Of course it’s not impossible to play in Germany again, but there aren’t that many clubs in Germany I would play for,” said the 31-year-old.

Schult will move to the USA for the new season with Angel City FC, which was founded this year by Hollywood stars like Natalie Portman. “It’s a gift when you can play as long as Manuel Neuer and ‘Gigi’ Buffon,” she said. “But we’ve seen enough examples of how quickly it can be over through an injury or another career step.”

On Saturday (4.45 p.m. / ARD) the final of the DFB Cup between the Wolfsburg women and Turbine Potsdam will take place in Cologne. Schult could win the cup with the Green-Whites for the eighth time in a row. “Eight times in a row is an unbelievable series that is second to none. That only happens in very few sports,” said Schult.
