The A37 between the Holsloot junction and the German border will be the fourth highway route where again 130 kilometers per hour can be driven. According to the Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management Barry Madlener (PVV), the maximum speed is adjusted before the summer.
From the Holsloot junction to the border crossing at Zwartemeer is approximately twenty kilometers. But before the time comes, the highway still has to be adjusted. “Some more needs to be adjusted in connection with road safety, which is not the case with the other three routes,” says a spokesperson for the ministry. Vangrails are placed along the route.
From today, 130 can be driven on three other highways: on the Afsluitdijk (A7), on the A7 between Winschoten and the border with Germany and the A6 between Lelystad-Noord and the Ketelbrug. In total it concerns 117 kilometers of asphalt.
That 130 can be driven between Holsloot and the German border seems to be a formality, but it is not yet completely certain. Tomorrow the design of the Ministry will be published in the Government Gazette, after there has been research into the consequences for the nitrogen battle on protected nature. Objections can then be made to this, after which the final decision can be made.
