Status: 08/13/2022 9:35 p.m

The beach volleyball duo Nils Ehlers/Clemens Wickler missed the final at the local tournament in Hamburg. The Stuttgart women Karla Borger/Julia Sude had previously failed in the semifinals.

Ehlers/Wickler lost 2-0 (16:21, 18:21) to Dutchmen Alexander Brouwer/Robert Meeuwsen on Saturday evening at the Stadion am Rothenbaum. In 2019, Wickler won World Championship silver with his former partner Julius Thole at the same place. The local heroes will once again face a duo from the Netherlands in the game for third place on Sunday at 2 p.m. against Stefan Boermans/Matthew Immers.

Borger/Sude had previously lost their semi-final against the Americans Kelly Cheng and Betsi Flint 17:21, 18:21. The small final on Sunday at 11 a.m. will be against the Brazilian duo Carolina Salgado/Barbara Seixas De Freitas (Brazil).

The German champions Sandra Ittlinger and Isabel Schneider (FC St. Pauli) had already lost in the quarter-finals to the Swiss European champions Nina Brunner/Tanja Hüberli by 20:22, 7:21. For the European players, the tournament in Hamburg is a final assessment of where they stand before the European Championships in Munich, which begin on Monday.
