The Beach Endurance starts with a mass start in De Panne and there are many pros at the start. They have 52 kilometers ahead of them between De Panne and Bray-Dunes. Johan Jacobs immediately shows his good legs. The rest want to follow, but the beach spares no one. A crash among the leaders and soon we have six leaders: Jacobs, Dupont, Sprengers, De Cock, Leroux and Vanlerberghe. No Merlier, because it had a puncture. Just like Sprengers and Vanlerberghe.
That makes four more frontrunners. Samuel Leroux of Total Energies. Timothy Dupont, last year’s winner. Johan Jacobs from Middelkerke and the strong Dutchman Jules De Cock. In the last long stretch to Bray-Dunes, Leroux and Dupont have to throw in the towel and Jacobs makes the difference in the dunes. It is his second Beach Endurance victory.
