BBL: Telekom Baskets Bonn stop negative run

Just in time for Christmas, Telekom Baskets Bonn stopped their negative run and defeated William Christmas’s Veolia Towers Hamburg.

After four competitive defeats in a row, the Rhinelanders won 108:94 (52:47) in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) against the North Germans, who had previously won six of the last seven league games.

On the Champions League winner’s side, playmaker Glynn Watson was the outstanding player with 29 points. Their strong US duo consisting of Vincent King (23 points) and Christmas (22) was not enough for the guests.

In the table, Bonn moved up to sixth place behind the Würzburg Baskets, who jumped to fifth place thanks to a narrow 98:86 (47:44) at Hakro Merlins Crailsheim. There was also tension until the final siren in the meeting between the Basketball Löwen Braunschweig and the MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg, which the Lower Saxony team won 83:82 (43:51).

Things were less successful for Syntainics MBC, which was weak at home. The club from Weißenfels suffered its fifth defeat in its sixth home game with a 71:89 (30:40) win against EWE Baskets Oldenburg and is still in the bottom third of the table.
