Basketball Bundesliga club Löwen Braunschweig did not use his first match ball to move into the play-off semi-final. In the fourth game of the quarter-final series, the Lower Saxony had to give up on Tuesday evening at the Würzburg Baskets with 72:79 (34:44).
The decision about who prevails in the “Best of Five” series and meets Ulm in the semi-finals is falling this Thursday (3 p.m.). Then the lions have home rights. In the round of the last four teams, the Lower Saxons were last in 2010, at that time under the names of Phantom.
Löwen back with ten points for the break
After an appealing start to the game, the lions in the middle of the first quarter with ten points (12:22) fell behind. The north Germans struggled primarily from the free throw line: Both Barra Njie and Gavin Schilling made two misses in succession. With a 21:28 deficit it went into the second quarter.
In this, things went really well for the Braunschweiger. With six points in a row, they came close to the hosts. At halftime it was ten points behind the 34:44.
Braunschweig does not get Steinbach under control
As in the second quarter, the lions managed to start a strong start in the third quarter. Luka Scuka provided 42:44 with successful free throws. The defense of the Lower Saxony now acted very strongly, only after more than four minutes the hosts came to their first points in the third section. But then Würzburg put on again, so that Braunschweig went into the final quarter with a 55: 61 deficit.
