That was a clear demonstration of power: In the BBL, Bayern Munich taught the surprise team from Heidelberg a lesson and took first place. Ulm also remains at the top.
Two days after their painful 69:112 defeat in the Euroleague at Olympiakos Piraeus, the Munich team celebrated an 87:59 (49:24) victory in Heidelberg in the domestic league on Sunday (January 12, 2025). After a short initial phase, the guests quickly took command and led 22:12 after the first quarter. Since the Munich team maintained their scoring rate, Heidelberg never found the connection.
In Devin Booker, Niels Giffey (both 14) and Carsen Edwards (13), three Munich players achieved double-digit scoring values. For Heidelberg, Erol Ersek was the best thrower with 12 points. With the away win, the Bayern basketball team (10:4 wins) takes first place in the BBL ahead of Ulm (10:4). Heidelberg (9:5) is now third.
Würzburg stumbles in Oldenburg
The Würzburg Baskets suffered a setback in Oldenburg. Würzburg lost to Oldenburg on Saturday (January 11, 2025) with 85:96 (40:38) and thus missed the jump to first place.
