BBB leader Caroline van der Plas has invited VVD leader Dilan Yesilgöz and Nicolien van Vroonhoven of NSC to talk again on Wednesday about who the Ministerial post asylum and migration can hold. Van der Plas says that on Tuesday NRC. The post has been released now that all PVV ministers have left the cabinet.
The VVD and BBB are directly opposite each other in the discussion. Both government parties want to claim the post of outgoing asylum minister for himself. The VVD sees a role for David van Weel, currently outgoing Minister of Justice. According to Van der Plas, the task fits better with the portfolio of outgoing minister Mona Keijzer: “Keijzer has already had to deal with a large part of asylum and migration, such as flow locations, COA and status holders.”
Election campaign
Van der Plas calls Van Weel “a good minister,” but according to her he would “have a lot on his plate.” NSC initially also joined the battle for the post of migration minister, but would have given up that idea. The party now chooses the BBB side.
Those involved assume that in particular the VVD in the election campaign wants to prove that their party can tackle asylum and migration energetically, in contrast to PVV member Marjolein Faber, who was dismissed last Tuesday. BBB would also like to make an election theme from Asylum.
Under the leadership of outgoing Prime Minister Dick Schoof, the three party leaders have already spoken three times on the subject, together with their three Deputy Prime Ministers. That ended undecided on Friday evening, and with the announcement of Schoof that they should then adhere to the fixed replacement scheme as it applies in the event of illness or the loss of ministers. In that case, asylum and migration falls under Van Weel.
