BBB leader Van der Plas returns to work a week after threats | NOW

Member of Parliament Caroline van der Plas (BBB) resumes her work, a spokesperson for her party confirms after reporting from RTL Boulevard. Last week she announced a series of threats to take a step back.

The politician said that she would not appear in the media for the time being and canceled working visits. So she resumes it now. But larger public appearances, for example at events where large groups of people are present, let them pass for the time being.

Safety measures have been taken around Van der Plas’ home, she tells RTL Boulevard. Measures have also been taken regarding her personal guidance. She says she cannot comment on this.

Van der Plas received multiple death threats. “So far, one death threat has been deemed so serious that the Public Prosecution Service has recorded my report and will investigate this further,” she says. “Other threats are collected and also investigated and/or dealt with.”

More politicians have been threatened during the farmers’ protests. For example, Minister Christianne van der Wal (Nitrogen) and MPs Derk Boswijk and Tjeerd de Groot were visited at home. At Van der Wal, angry farmers violently broke through a police blockade.
