The greatest praise after Union’s strong 1-1 comes from the opponent.

Bayern World Champion Thomas Müller: “I’m a Union fan. We knew what to expect here. It’s not for nothing that you’re up there. Union delivered exactly what makes them strong. When they hit the balls out there, it looks martial. Against Union in this form is a battle of attrition in midfield.”

Union goalkeeper Frederik Rönnow: “We are happy. It’s always difficult against Bayern, they’re a top team. We were disciplined so a point deserves it.”

Coach Urs Fischer: “The team played a great game and eventually won a point. But Bayern was certainly closer to victory. We showed a top performance defensively. We never became passive, we never let ourselves be tempted.”

Left-back Julian Ryerson: “A very intense game with tough duels at times. But we’re a unit and we coped well with that, as well as with the changes before the game. We know that every player is important. The atmosphere in the stadium was outstanding again today, which helped us a lot.”

FCB coach Julian Nagelsmann: “In the end, the result is okay, even though we were closer to the opening goal than Union in the second half.”
