The upward trend of 1. FC Saarbrücken has stalled a week before the next DFB Cup highlight.
Coach Rüdiger Ziehl’s team couldn’t get past a 0-0 draw in the catch-up game against MSV Duisburg and missed their third win in a row in the 3rd league.
The Saarlanders will meet former title holders Eintracht Frankfurt in the round of 16 next week on St. Nicholas Day (6 p.m./Sky).
The Bayern conquerors will contest the dress rehearsal for the next cup duel in Saarbrücken’s Ludwigsparkstadion on Saturday (2 p.m./MagentaSport) against newly promoted Preußen Münster.
After 16 match days, despite winning points, MSV continues to be plagued by relegation concerns. The former Bundesliga club, in second-to-last place, has already lost touch with the non-relegation places with just nine points.
