Bayern player threatened with death in anonymous letters

Hamburg (dpa) – According to a report in the “Bild” newspaper, several players from the Bundesliga soccer team FC Bayern are threatened with death. The police had an anonymous letter, said a police spokesman on Tuesday evening of the German Press Agency.

“We are investigating on suspicion of threatening and disturbing the public peace through threats of criminal offences.” The spokesman did not initially provide any further information.

According to the report in the “Bild” newspaper, the letter was received by the second division football club FC St. Pauli on January 12 and handed over to the police by the Kiezkicker team. The letter would name Bayern players Robert Lewandowski, Manuel Neuer and Serge Gnabry. According to “Bild”, the letter should be titled “Save the league, save football. Fire and death to the dirty Bavarian pigs”. FC Bayern did not want to comment on the matter when asked.
