Managing Director Marko Pesic from the basketball team at FC Bayern Munich has criticized the permanent overload of the players.
“The entire basketball system is lazy because it doesn’t protect the most important thing it has: the players,” said the former international of the “Süddeutsche Zeitung”.
Euroleague, championship, cup, national team is just too much. “Everyone hopes that the players are fit in the important phase. But that’s mentally and physically impossible, so it won’t happen,” continued the 46-year-old.
Especially the people of Munich, who like Alba Berlin are represented in all competitions, have a hard time chasing appointments. Many regular players are missing due to injury. So far, the team from the Isar has not even been able to play at its best.
“But to be competitive, we need the whole team. That wasn’t the case all of last season, unfortunately again now,” complained Pesic. By January 12, his team will play six games across all competitions.
