Bayer presented new data from the Phase II ARASEC study at the 2026 American Urological Association (AUA) Annual Meeting.
These underline the benefit of darolutamide (trade name Nubeqa®) in patients with metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC). According to Bayer, the study shows that the combination of darolutamide with conventional androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) significantly improves progression-free survival and overall survival compared to ADT alone. In addition, the therapy significantly delays the transition to the castration-resistant stage of the disease, which is more difficult to treat.
“The results of the ARASEC trial provide further evidence that darolutamide in combination with ADT provides a clear survival benefit compared to ADT alone in patients with metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer,” said Rana R. McKay, principal investigator of the ARASEC trial. Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer and the fifth leading cause of cancer death among men worldwide.
