Bayer Leverkusen | Völler: “Wirtz will come back even better”

Rudi Völler is convinced that Bayer Leverkusen’s super talent Florian Wirtz will cope well with his cruciate ligament rupture.

“He will come back even better than he was before,” said the outgoing Leverkusen sports director Rudi Völler before the home game against Hertha BSC on “Sky”.

“I met him yesterday, he’s already doing his rehab. He wants to get fit again quickly. But that will take a while,” added Völler, who will hand over his post at the Bundesliga club to ex-professional Simon Rolfes after the end of the season .

The 18-year-old national player Wirtz tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee on March 13 in the league game against 1. FC Köln (0-1). After the operation, the midfielder is now in rehabilitation.
