Bayer Leverkusen: New contract for goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky?

At Bayer 04, the contracts of seven professionals will expire by 2023 at the latest. This also includes goalkeeper and captain Lukas Hradecky (32), whose contract is valid until next year. Apparently, the Finnish international could stay with the “Werkself”. As the “Kicker” reports, talks have been resumed regarding the extension of the contract.

Sports director Simon Rolfes didn’t want to give the magazine “any water level reports”. Nevertheless: “The intention to extend is there from both sides. Everything else is open,” the former national player is quoted as saying. The first talks are said to have taken place in January, but because Hradecky’s father and adviser Vladimir was out of action due to a corona infection, the negotiations could not be continued.

Hradecky joined Bayer 04 on a free transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2018, for whom he has made 166 appearances and kept 46 clean sheets. He has only missed two games this season. “Lukas is extremely important as a guy, as a role model and in the dressing room, and as a player he is very responsive and strong in one-on-ones. He is an important link who takes responsibility,” said Rolfes. In addition to Hradecky, coach Gerardo Seoane also has Andrey Lunev (30), Niklas Lomb (28) and Lennart Grill (23) available for the position between the posts.
