Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen has extended the contract of Execiel Palacios by 2030. The midfielder, currently not available due to an adductor injury, has been in the service of the Werkself for five years. “He has developed into a supporting pillar of our Werkelf since his obligation in 2020,” emphasized managing director Sport Simon Rolfes. After the departures of Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong (both to Liverpool FC) and Piero Hincapié (Arsenal), Palacios is the most valuable professional in the squad of the new coach Kasper Hjulmand with 40 million euros.
“He was one of the service providers in the past years and will continue to take on a lot of responsibility in building up to the team that has been hungry in success and,” said Rolfes, who added: “Palas value has increased from season to season. His great international experience as well as his outstanding strategic and individual qualities as a central six -man make it a core element in the construction of a highly ambitious team.” Between 2022 and 2024, Palacios had been able to triple its market value under the Bayer Cross, in summer the career high value of 45 million euros was slightly reduced.
In total, 162 competitive games for Leverkusen have been available from the Argentinian since moving to Germany, in which he contributed 31 scorers. The professional himself explained with a view to his extension: “Bayer 04 has developed almost breathtaking since I arrived in Germany five years ago. It is a great feeling to have been an important part of this process. Now we want to continue this story with a team that brings everything to continue playing a good role in the national and European competitions. I am really looking forward to the coming time with Bayer 04.”
