With Emiliano Buendía (28) and Mario Hermoso (29), Bayer 04 Leverkusen traded two potential new signings on Saturday. According to reports, there are still some questions to be clarified regarding both personnel. It is therefore possible that alternatives will have to be found – and this could be found in defense with Tomás Palacios from Inter Milan.

According to Sky, the 21-year-old central defender is one of three options alongside Hermoso and probably – the other names are not mentioned in the report – Mikayil Faye (20) from Stade Rennes. Palacios only came to the Nerazzurri from CS Independiente Rivadavia from Argentina last summer for 6.5 million euros and has a contract there until 2029.
However, he hardly gets any playing time in the second-placed team in Serie A. After the first six months, there were just three missions lasting a total of 26 minutes – not enough for our own requirements. A loan to AC Monza has been discussed in Italy in recent days. According to “Sky Italia”, Palacios is not part of the squad for the away game against US Lecce on Sunday evening (6 p.m.) due to the impending transfer activities.
It is still unclear whether a loan is also an option for Leverkusen; so far all information about the player has been obtained and interest has been registered. The Werkself have four central defenders in the squad, but Jeanuël Belocian (19)’s season ended early due to a torn cruciate ligament and Jonathan Tah (28) will most likely leave the club for free in the summer when his contract expires. With Sadik Fofana (21), a player for this position was given to Grazer AK for free this winter; so far the only player listed on the access page is the Argentine striker talent Alejo Sarco (18), who is free of charge.
