Ratiopharm Ulm only needs a win for the final. Because after a furious appearance against Würzburg it is 2-1 in the playoff semi-final.
Karim Jallow and Justinian Jessup led Ratiopharm Ulm to a sovereign 99:86 victory in the playoff semi-final against the Würzburg Baskets. In the best-of-five series, it is 2-1 for the Ulm and the Swabians can move into the final next Tuesday (6:30 p.m.).
Ulm got off to a good start and took the lead briskly. Karim Jallow was one of the assets in the Ulm game – strongly under the basket, but then with a few weaknesses in the three zone. His mischiefs from outside and several gymnastics enabled the Würzburgers to keep up in this early phase and even take the lead towards the end of the first quarter (17:20).
Jessup and Jallow put Ulm in the lead
The second round started similarly intensely. Ulm put pressure on the front and managed to take the speed out of the Würzburg attack game. The team of coach Ty Harrelson made the Würzburgers try to try it with complicated throws. Thanks to the consistent rebound work, Ulm took the lead back and, thanks to Justinian Jessup and Karim Jallow, was able to expand it to 48:37 until half-time.
Even in the third quarter, Jallow and Jessup could not be stopped. The Würzburg attacks became more and more hectic given the backlog. The result: frequent ball gains, simple points and a 68: 55 lead for Ulm.
Ulms shows Würzburg the borders
With this lead in the back, Ulm even picked up the trick box in the last quarter: First it was Jallow with the Alley-Oop pass on Márcio Santos. Then Jessup and Santos showed that they also master this feat. And at the latest when Marcio Santos started with his third campaign for the Slamdunk, the Würzburg resistance was broken. In the final phase, Baskets coach Sašo Filipovski sent his second guard on the floor to protect his top players for the fight against the season. Then Ulm can move into the final of the basketball Bundesliga with a win.
