Basketball players Heroes Den Bosch conquer Supercup

The basketball players of Heroes Den Bosch have won the first prize of the season. In their own Maaspoort, the Supercup was won by beating Donar. It became 76-59 for the champion of the Netherlands. Outstanding Chris-Ebou Ndow from Norway was pleased with the prize. “This is what we play for.”

Heroes laid the foundation for the win in the first half. The team played excellent basketball and left the Groningen opponent behind on all fronts. Den Bosch was unstoppable offensively, no fewer than nine players scored for Heroes. Because the team did not leave any holes defensively, there was a big difference on the scoreboard at half time (46-28).

In the second half Heroes was a lot less concentrated and the pace dropped. Donar never really got a foothold, though. Ndow, who is new to Den Bosch and was good for 10 points and 8 rebounds, analyzed the difference afterwards. “We’re just a close-knit team already.”

There have been quite a few player changes at Heroes this season. International Jito Kok has joined the club. At the same time, Mo Kherrazi said goodbye and Shane Hammink retired from basketball. Of the five foreign players in the selection, four have been replaced. Only American guard Austin Price has remained. He was the top scorer on the Bossche side in the battle for the Supercup with 14 points.

Den Bosch previously won the Supercup in 2014 and 2016. Heroes surprisingly won the national title last season. That was the 17th championship in the history of the illustrious club.

Heroes starts the competition on Sunday with an away game in Zwolle. This year there is again a joint competition with the Belgians. The BNXT league play-offs are in May.
