After two minor defeats, Donar’s basketball players managed to win a match in North Macedonia on Thursday evening. Rabotnicki Skopje was defeated 65-62.
The victory was one for the statistics, because it did not yield anything for the Groningen team. Donar visited Skopje this week to qualify for the FIBA Europe Cup, but after a 73-70 defeat against Sabah BC from Azerbaijan and a 69-65 loss against Rapid Bucharest, the final match against home club Rabotnicki Skopje was only about the emperor’s beard. This also applied to the Macedonians, who ultimately lost all matches.
Strong second quarter
Still, both teams made it a real battle. In contrast to previous matches, Donar played a strong second quarter this time (15-7), taking a strong lead. In the last quarter the strength faded away and Skopje still came close. John Meeks was the top scorer on the Donar side with sixteen points.
