Basketball players Donar lose first game of the Landoltcup on Swiss soil

The Donar basketball players continued their preparations for an international top tournament on Swiss soil on Wednesday evening. In the Landoltcup in Yverdon-Les-Bains, a town on Lake Neuchâtel, the team of coach Andrej Stimac played the first game of group B against the German Telekom Baskets Bonn. The Groningen team lost 72-80.

Donar put the winner of the Champions League and vice-champion of Germany to the shins. The team played well and was well ahead after the first quarter, 23-14. There was only one point left at halftime: 35-34.

In the third quarter, Donar made another bigger gap (53-48), but the team from Bonn came back strongly in the last quarter. After three three-pointers and two ‘normal’ scores from Donar, the Germans overtook the Groningen team: 57-57.

After that, Bonn took a lead and did not relinquish it. Donar finally with eight points difference: 72-80.

Next game on Friday

On Friday, Donar will play the second game against Giviva Scafati Basket from Italy. On Saturday, three (final) matches will be played to determine the ranking of all six teams. The participants of the other group are an old acquaintance from the BNXT League, namely Telenet Giants from Antwerp, KB Prishtina from Kosovo and the Swiss champion Friborg Olympic.
