The German basketball players want to change the hotel before the decisive tournament phase at the European Championship in Riga: the noise is particularly disturbing the team.
The German basketball players are on course at the European Championship. Nevertheless, there is some dissatisfaction with Dennis Schröder and Co. – about the team hotel. “The hotel does not meet the requirements for such a tournament. That is why we would like to move and made an application to the FIBA,” said DBB Vice President Armin Andres. According to Sportschau information, the association already had this application from the first day of arrival after the transfer from Tampere (place of the group phase) to Riga (KO-Phase).
The noise causes resentment at the world champion, since the hotel is located directly on a multi -lane main road where there is currently also a large construction site. The quality of the catering and the length of the beds also do not correspond to the standards.
Delivered teams make room
In addition, the accommodation is located in which the four teams that have qualified in Tampere for the final round is located on the west side of the Daugava River and not in the popular old town of Riga. Among other things, the Serbs, Latvians and Portuguese were housed there. However, all three teams were eliminated in the round of 16. So there should be enough rooms free. Now only the Fiba has to agree to a move.
However, the move would probably take place on Monday (September 8th) at the earliest, since today’s training -free day the team is sometimes not in the hotel for recovery purposes. The preparation for the quarter -finals begins from Monday. The German opponent will be determined on Sunday evening – the DBB selection meets Italy or Slovenia.
