The sovereign home win of the second in the table: Ratiopharm Ulm is literally shooting Chemnitz Niners from the hall with 117: 87 and is ready for the summit with FC Bayern.
The 5,800 spectators in the Neu-Ulmer Arena no longer came out of amazement during the first quarter on Sunday afternoon. The second in the table against the third – that should actually be expected to be an exciting duel at eye level. But the Ulm set an offensive fireworks and won the first quarter 34: 8. The foundation stone for the sovereign victory was laid against the Saxons. With the impressive performance, the Ulm will be ready for the big summit on Tuesday when FC Bayern basketball comes to the Danube as leader.
Niners Chemnitz almost ten minutes without a hit out of the field
What a brilliant beginning! The Ulm are wide awake, 8: 0 in the lead through fast and sophisticated interaction. Alfonso Plummer hits three threes in the first section for Ulm. The Chemnitzer only throw. After that, the ball losses are also increasing among the guests. When Philipp Herkenhoff increased to the intermediate score of 30: 4, the Ulm met all eight of their field throwing attempts. With the Niners, all eleven attempts to throw from the field land only on the ring or next to the basket. Only eight seconds before the end of the first quarter, Jacob Gilyard for Chemitz scored the first goal from the field. Before that, the guests only came to five free throw points. 34: 8 leads the second in the table against the third.
Ratiopharm Ulm collects 13 points in a row
In the second quarter, the Niners finally find into the game and are now acting with significantly more speed. Nevertheless, Alfonso Plummer can set up the Ulm lead to plus 31 with his next goal from a distance (54:23). The only weakness in the ratiopharm troop follows. Inaccurate passes, negligence in defense and strong throws of the guests lead to a 13-0 run by Chemnitz Niners. At halftime it is 56:36.
Chemnitz coach has to leave Halle
After the break, the guests appear more vigorously and do not want to give up with a defeat. You can now get a little more space from the Ulm. But the Swabian offensive movement continues to roll in the other direction, for example when Ben Saraf struggles through the opposing zone and, despite fouls, promotes the ball into the basket. Towards the end of the third section, the Chemnitz coach Rodrigo Pastore loses its version. He gets upset against his team via a foul and insulted the referees in such a way that he is punished with two technical fouls and has to leave the hall.
The Ulm mascot “fun” shows the way out of the hall to the Chemnitz trainer Rodrigo. After two technical fouls, the guest coach has to leave the arena towards the end of the third quarter.
At 82:60 it goes into the final quarter. The Ulm continues to have their foot on the accelerator pedal, even if they are no longer so intensely defending. The fans have long been celebrating the victory, while the American Nate Hinton, who is only freshly, is increasingly in focus. Until then, Hinton played a lot in his very first use for Ulm, but has not yet scored any points. Then he actually comes in front of the opposing basket twice and gives both chances. Extremely unhappy – the fans suffer with him. But then Nate also explodes Hinton, makes ten points within three minutes and becomes a new crowd favorite. Ratiopharm Ulm happily meets until 117:87 final score. The troop seems ready for FC Bayern, which will come to the Neu-Ulmer Arena on Tuesday.
