Syntaincs MBC won against Bayern Munich and gained further breathing room in the relegation battle. The Niners Chemnitz lost an important success against Bonn in the fight for the playoffs.
Callison scratches 30 points against FCB
Syntainics MBC won 91:79 (42:42) at home against the BBL table leaders. Charles Callison excelled with 29 points.
After a strong first quarter, the Weißenfels team were ahead 26:19, but then had difficulty following the individual quality of Bayern around Halle native Andi Obst (19 points in total). After halftime, Callison turned things up and scored 15 points in the third quarter alone. The MBC led 70:57 before the final period. A 16-0 run by Munich once again created tension, but two goals from downtown put a damper on Bayern’s rebellion. The “Wolves” are four wins ahead of the first relegation spot in one more game and can still hope for the play-ins.
Niners lose victory against Bonn
The Niners Chemnitz were in tenth place, which is enough for the play-ins, before the game on Holy Saturday. The Saxons had to compete against the Baskets from Bonn and lost dramatically with 75:76 (42:30).
After a hard-fought start, the Saxons pulled away and expanded their lead to 14 points. But as so often this season, the Niners failed to take a clear lead. In a dramatic final phase, Kevin Yebo missed a free throw, Grayson Murphy gave Bonn the lead with a three-pointer and the Baskets won. Before Yebo (19 points), Corey Davis (21) was the hosts’ best thrower.
