After almost 50 years: World Club raises a beard ban for players

The New York Yankees are among the world’s best known sports teams. The team made the beard even more unique. But that has now been done.
An era comes to an end: the New York Yankees have lifted their bare ban on their decades. For the first time in 49 years, players from the traditional MLB club are allowed to wear beards again-as long as they are cared for.
Team owner Hal Steinbrenner said that he had spoken to numerous former and current Yankees in the past few weeks. Internally, the rule had been an issue for a long time, now it has been “after a careful consideration” to abolish it. From now on, players and uniformed employees should wear “well -kept beards”.
The ban goes back to Steinbrenner’s father George, who had introduced the rule almost five decades ago. Since then, Yankees professionals have only been allowed to run smoothly or with a mustache. On Monday, according to the AP news agency, the Yankees reminded their players to appear smoothly for a photo shoot the next morning.
