Footballer Bas Dost is very surprised by the statements of NEC director Wilco van Schaik. He stated that Dost will not return to professional football. But Dost’s agent calls this ‘very premature’ in the AD.
Dost became unwell in the away match against AZ at the end of October 2023 and collapsed on the field in the final phase. It later turned out that he had an inflamed heart muscle, caused by a virus.
He is still working on his recovery. “The situation is still the same,” Oosterhof told the AD. “Bas himself has not released much about this because he is fully focused on his recovery.”
Oosterhof calls Van Schaik’s ‘news’ at Goedemorgen Eredivisie ‘very premature.’ “If there are developments, it is up to Bas himself whether or not to come up with them.”
The 18-time former international started his career at FC Emmen, after he stood out in the youth of CVV Germanicus in Coevorden. Dost completed the rest of the youth training in Emmen. In 2007 he broke through into the main squad.
