FC Bayern has been repeatedly linked with Frenkie de Jong for some time now. According to a media report from Spain, things could become concrete between the FC Barcelona midfielder and the Bundesliga club next summer. The record champions apparently accept a high fee for this.
During his time at Ajax Amsterdam, Frenkie de Jong was already considering a move to FC Bayern. But the central midfielder decided to transfer to FC Barcelona in the summer of 2019. The Catalans transferred 86 million euros to the Dutch metropolis for the services of the then 22-year-old.
But since then the financial situation of the top Spanish club has deteriorated extremely. The Catalan online newspaper “El Nacional” reports that Barca will probably have to part with one or two players next summer in order to avoid being sanctioned by UEFA. De Jong is said to be one of the “main candidates” for a sale.
FC Bayern: 90 million euros for Frenkie de Jong?
This in turn could bring FC Bayern onto the scene, who are said to be interested in the Dutchman again. Most recently in the summer there was speculation about a move for the 54-time national player to the Bavarian capital. However, the rumors had not become concrete.
According to El Nacional, that could change next summer. FC Bayern are said to be prepared to put up to 90 million euros on the table for de Jong. Thomas Tuchel in particular is pushing for a commitment from the 26-year-old, who is not an undisputed regular at FC Barcelona despite strong performances.
In the current season, de Jong has only made seven competitive appearances. A sprained ankle put a stop to his right foot. The game designer is expected to return next week.
