As of: March 29, 2026 • 7:43 p.m

In the duel between the two surprise teams, the Trier Gladiators came up short. The newcomers were only really a match for the cup winners in the first quarter.

The Trier Gladiators got off to a good start, but then let Bamberg pull away in the second quarter. Bamberg continued to expand this lead in the second half. Trier gave up the game. In the end, the Gladiators had to admit defeat 79:98.

In this game, the two strongest offensive teams in the Basketball Bundesliga met. Trier with an average of 90.9 points per game – Bamberg with 89.4 points. Trier due to injury but without Steven Ashworth and Nolan Adekunle.

Gladiators Trier started well – the game was balanced for the time being

Trier started the game well. Marco Hollersbacher and Jordan Roland scored six points in the first two minutes. It took just under three minutes for Bamberg until Demarcus Demonia scored the first points for the hosts. Roland was strong offensively – demanding the balls and sinking them into the basket. He scored nine points in the first quarter alone – including from the three-point line. All in all, the game seemed balanced – the lead changed again and again.

Bamberg delivers Offensive spectacle in the second quarter

In the second quarter, Trier suddenly collapsed and Bamberg turned up the heat. The Gladiators repeatedly allowed easy points and were at times behind by 17 points. For about four minutes, no points were scored for the Trier team. The Trier team’s three-pointer rate was also significantly worse: the Gladiators only had half as many three-pointers as Bamberg. Shortly before halftime, Trier came close again – also with three successful free throws from Jordan Roland. Nevertheless, the Gladiators went into the locker room with a 56:43 deficit.

Trier rarely managed to set an offensive tone in the second half.

Gladiators Trier give the game away

Trier hardly had a chance against the strong Bamberg defense. Jordan Roland in particular had little playing time due to several personal fouls. Trier gave up the game. The Gladiators particularly had problems with Cobe Williams, who had a total of 22 points. They seemed unfocused at times and made mistakes – 20 turnovers underlined this. In the end, the Gladiators had to admit defeat 79:98.
