Balenciaga and Maison Margiela are absent from the haute couture program in January

After Balenciaga’s haute couture debut twice postponed in July this year, which was canceled for two seasons after a pandemic, the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode (FHCM) has published the provisional haute couture calendar from 24th to 27th January published – but again without Balenciaga.

Maison Margiela is also not on the program. While the return to live shows in Paris has been a matter of course since last season, the rapid spread of the new virus variant seems to thwart the plan again.

The labels on the program of the haute couture fashion week

The historic French fashion houses on the program include Chanel, Schiaparelli, Dior and Azzaro, as well as Giorgio Armani Privé, Valentino, Fendi and Giambattista Valli from Italy.

Jean-Paul Gaultier is supported as guest designer by Y / Project and Diesel designer Glenn Martens this season. Other guest designers on the calendar are Iris van Herpen, Viktor & Rolf, Elie Saab and Zuhair Murad.

Balenciaga’s absence from Haute Couture Fashion Week comes as a surprise after a brilliant show took place in July after a break of more than 50 years. Alternative dates for their respective couture shows were not given by either of the two fashion houses.
