Helsinki IFK’s top promise, Aron Kiviharju, is estimated to be on the sidelines for about four months, the club says on its website.

Kiviharju, 17, was injured in training on Tuesday. More detailed investigations revealed that the injury of Kiviharju, who plays as a defender, requires surgical treatment.

Kiviharju has played in seven league matches this season with 1+1 power points. He completed the first goal of his league career in the net of Ilves last week on Friday.

In his career, Kiviharju has won the under-18 World Championship bronze. He was expected to be the leading force of the Young Lions in the upcoming World Cup, which will be played at the turn of the year in Sweden.

The young defender moved to HIFK for this season from Turku Palloseura. Last season, Kiviharju played 21 league matches in the TPS shirt with an output of 0+3.
