BabyOne increases annual sales by 14 percent

The retailer BabyOne, which specializes in baby and toddler supplies, closed the 2021 financial year with a significant increase in sales. On Tuesday, the Münster-based company announced that net sales last year amounted to 255.5 million euros, setting a new record. Compared to 2020, revenues increased by 14 percent.

The focus recently was on the “transformation of the business model from a stationary retailer to an omnichannel player,” explained BabyOne. The online business was able to grow disproportionately: sales there increased by 34 percent to 42.2 million euros. The share of e-commerce revenues in total sales thus grew to 16.5 percent. The retailer announced that sales had also increased in the stationary stores. According to its own statements, BabyOne now has 103 branches run by itself or by franchise partners.

The siblings Anna Weber and Jan-Willem Weischer have been running the family business since the beginning of last year. “With the handover of the business on January 1, 2021, we started another Corona year that was very challenging for us,” they said in a statement. “We owe the fact that we have mastered this year so successfully to our franchise partners and employees, who have supported us with infinite trust and great energy in many different projects to advance the digital and cultural transformation of BabyOne step by step.”

The company wants to continue on its course in 2022. Plans include “among other things, the expansion of the private label that started in 2021, the further linking of the online and offline worlds and the continuation of the transformation processes that have started,” says a statement.
