Swimming champions Ranomi Kromowidjojo and Ferry Weertman have become the proud parents of a baby’s cloud. Livia Weertman is called their daughter, who was born on 26 February. “We are super proud and happy! And we enjoy this wonderful time,” says the crazy couple on Instagram.
Ranomi Kromowidjojo, triple Olympic champion, shared the news of her pregnancy at the end of September last year. Together with her friend Ferry Weertman, also Olympic champion, she proudly showed a bodysuit with the message: ‘Making waves in a whole new way! Our little swimmer has already won his first race ‘. The text ‘Baby 2025’ was on the small garment.
Ranomi previously had several miscarriages, she told Parents of today. This made this pregnancy extra special. “After several miscarriages you will lose that innocent expectation,” she said. “When we had our first ultrasound and saw the heart beating for the first time, it felt like a milestone. That moment was a very good step that gave so much hope.”
In 2022, Ranomi finished her swimming career. With several gold Olympic medals and world titles, she is one of the most successful Dutch swimmers ever. Friend Ferry stopped professional swimming at the end of 2021. In 2016 he won gold at the Olympic Games in Rio in the 10 kilometers of open water swimming.
