Ranomi previously had several miscarriages, she told Parents of today. This made this pregnancy extra special. “After several miscarriages you will lose that innocent expectation,” she said. “When we had our first ultrasound and saw the heart beating for the first time, it felt like a milestone. That moment was a very good step that gave so much hope.”
In 2022, Ranomi finished her swimming career. With several gold Olympic medals and world titles, she is one of the most successful Dutch swimmers ever.
