Chabos know who the Babo is. And after this documentary, everyone else too.
It begins the way modern hip-hop documentaries begin. Flashy, hectic, a rags-to-riches story. A bit like “Gzuz – Light and Shadow” on Prime a few months ago. A piece of self-promotion under the guise of an honest documentary. Even Jan Delay is back as talking head.

The abysses in focus
And then “Babo” goes into hiding, doesn’t tell the success story of arrest warrant – misunderstood genius blah blah blah. Rather, it follows the person Aykut Anhan into abysses that you no longer want to watch at times. A saga of self-destruction, so to speak, from a man who has internalized the traumas of his childhood to such an extent that he falls headfirst.
Well done
Produced by Elyas M’Barek, directed by successful journalist Juan Moreno with Sinan Sevinç. They did well.
