Wim Brul of 82 was heavily abused in broad daylight in the Tree Park in Heesch. On Monday afternoon he stepped on the bike for his usual round. In the forest, a dog suddenly ran the cycle path, which had to brake Wim. Before he knew it, he was beaten and fell to the floor. “My father thought he was dying,” says his son Werner.
“He caught up with a man who ran for him with two dogs,” says his son Werner Brul. “The big black dog was on the line, but the little one walked loose. He suddenly crossed the cycle path.” Wim braked and came to a halt. “He bumped into the dog. My father could just stand upright when he slowed down.”
The owner of the dog ran to Wim and immediately hit him. “It happened in a split conde. My father heard the man coming from behind and was turned off his bike before he knew it.” Wim fell and landed on the floor with his bike between his legs. “He is so struck that in addition to many bruises, he also broken his ribs, has a fracture in his eye socket and a fracture in his wrist.”
“He didn’t get air and thought he was dying.”
The man walked away ‘cursing and scolding’ and left Wim in the forest. “He didn’t get air and thought he was dying.”
Wim gathered himself bleeding together. “He wanted to go to the police station and first tried to make his bike. Then he only went looking for help.” At the main entrance of the tree park he called 112. Wim was taken care of by bystanders.
Wim was taken to the hospital with the ambulance where he was treated on Monday evening with his injuries. “With so many broken ribs, it is common for your lung to recover. It is a miracle that this did not happen.”
“He is stiff in pain relief, but he was lucky.”
According to circumstances, Werner is ‘good’ with his father who talks as little as possible by pain in his jaw. “He is stiff in pain relief, but he was lucky.” According to his son, Wim is very fit and cycles every day. “That probably ensured that it is going reasonably well now.”
“A report was recorded by the police, camera images were viewed and neighborhood investigation. Unfortunately, this has not yet led to a suspect,” the police said on Thursday. They call on witnesses to report.
Due to the consequences of the mistreatment, Wim was unable to give a good description of the perpetrator, but according to his son the perpetrator would be a man between 40 and 50 years old. “A very important detail is that he had two black dogs with him (a large and a small one), one of which he had on the belt and the other walked loose.”
