Mexx Meerdink will finish the season at Vitesse. The Arnhem club will immediately take over the striker from AZ on a rental basis.
AZ initially did not want to cooperate in the loan of Mexx Meerdink to Vitesse, but due to the recent developments surrounding Lequincio Zeefuik, the way is now clear for the young striker. It seems very likely that the FC Volendam attacker will immediately start working for the Alkmaar club.
Short playing time
Meerdink did not get many playing minutes this season. In the Premier League he only made two short substitute appearances. He did score four times in seventeen matches for Jong AZ at a lower level.
Earlier this year on March 7, 2023, Meerdink already made his debut for AZ. That happened in the eighth finals of the UEFA Europa Conference League when they visited Lazio in Rome (1-2).
