So far, the striker has scored five goals in all competitions (three in the Conference League and two in the Eredivisie). Due to an injury from Troy Parrott, Meerdink is the first striker of AZ. He can follow in the footsteps of his father, Martijn Meerdink. He played one international match for Orange in 2006. Weghorst is not completely fit, but, like Memphis Depay, was called by Koeman.
Orange will play the World Cup qualifying match with Malta on 9 October. In a victory in Malta, the Netherlands is taking a big step towards next year’s World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada. Three days later, Finland is the opponent in the Johan Cruijff Arena.
