AZ coach Pascal Jansen does not think of doom: “Still plenty of chance for fourth place”

AZ will play the last away game of the season on Wednesday. Pascal Jansen’s team is visiting FC Utrecht and has to win if it wants to keep track of fourth place. “Fourth place is still achievable for us,” said Jansen.

AZ coach Pascal Jansen: “Fourth place still achievable”

The Alkmaarders are now in fifth place with two points behind number four FC Twente. If AZ finishes fifth, the Alkmaarders will play play-offs. Place four means European football. Then you automatically enter for the third preliminary round of the Conference League.

Clasie suspended, otherwise fit selection

Jordy Clasie has been suspended at AZ. Tijani Reijnders is his replacement. Pascal Jansen also has a fit selection at his disposal.

The trainer does not want to think about possibly missing out on European football. “That is something that is not reality. It makes no sense to think about it. I start from today’s reality. We still have a good chance of fourth place and that is where my energy goes”, Jansen is clear.
