AZ can make a decisive blow in away match against FC Vaduz

After two defeats in the league and one in the Conference League, AZ hopes to be able to admire the other side of the medal tomorrow evening. With a win or a draw against FC Vaduz, the Alkmaarders are sure that they will also play European after the winter break.

It is clear that the defeats against Apollon Limassol (1-0), Feyenoord (1-3) and especially Excelsior (2-1) have arrived. Jordy Clasie was clear at tonight’s press conference in Liechtenstein. Only if the team gives the full hundred percent, there is a chance of success.

“As a team we have to turn this around. Every game is an ideal game for that. We should not look too much at the opponent in that. I have every confidence that everyone realizes that we have to do that quickly.”

“Of course there are opportunities, but this is not going to be easy”

It has not yet been forgotten that it did not go smoothly in the first match against FC Vaduz. Clasie: “We have reviewed the images and of course there are opportunities, but this is not going to be easy.” According to trainer Pascal Jansen, the Liechtensteiners created (too) much danger in the counter. Nevertheless, AZ won 4-1 in Alkmaar. “We decided in the final phase, something that is also necessary.”

Of course, Jansen is still holding the cards against the chest with regard to the line-up. It is obvious that Maxim Dekker, who was replaced early against Excelsior, will return to the base, while Yukinari Sugawara will probably again be preferred over Myron van Brederode.

Intermediate round

AZ has 9 points at the start of the fifth group match. FC Dnipro-1 is on 7 points, Apollon Limassol has 4 and FC Vaduz 2. The first two clubs continue, with the group winner may skip the intermediate round. AZ will close the group next week in Alkmaar against FC Dnipro-1.

The kick-off in the Rheinpark stadium at FC Vaduz – AZ is tomorrow evening at 6.45 pm.
