“Avatar 2”: There are first pictures and an official theatrical release

To date, “Avatar – Aufbruch nach Pandora” is the most successful film of all time. Now there are first pictures of the sequel “Avatar 2”. The theatrical release has also been officially confirmed. The film is set to hit the big screen on December 14, 2022.

Thirteen years ago “Avatar – Aufbruch nach Pandora” was released in cinemas. To date, no film has had higher earnings. Whether this success can be repeated in the second part is uncertain. “The big question is: are we going to make some fucking money? Who knows? It’s a gamble,” director James Cameron told Entertainment Weekly.

Meanwhile, there are already some behind-the-scenes pictures of “Avatar 2”. The first footage shows Cameron filming in the cockpit of the RDA (Resources Development Administration). She returns to Pandora in search of the raw material Unobtanium. Fleeing from the RDA, the Na’vi are forced to leave their homeland. Among them are Jake (Sam Worthington), Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) and their child. Your family will be at the center of Avatar 2’s storyline.

Eventually, the Na’vi found shelter with the Metkayina. A people who live surrounded by water. A first glimpse of the Na’vi’s new home is a picture of a tropical beach in the village of Metkayina.

However, the life of the Metkayina takes place not only on land, but also underwater. The underwater scenes were filmed in a specially made water tank with a volume of more than four million liters. In order to be able to hold their breath long enough during filming, the cast had to undergo rigorous training. Kate Winslet holds the record for holding her breath for seven and a half minutes.

By the way, “Avatar 2” is far from being the last film about the life of the Na’vi. Over the past few years, three more scripts in the “Avatar” series have already been written. The common story of all films should ultimately become “an even bigger epic saga”, as producer Jon Landau recently revealed.
