At the start of the international break, the Austrian national team outclassed Ghana. Ralf Rangnick’s team won 5-1 in Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium – all goals were scored by Bundesliga players. BVB professional Carney Chukwuemeka scored a goal on his ÖFB debut 18 minutes after coming on as a substitute. Paul Wanner was also used.
With a total of nine Bundesliga professionals in the starting line-up, Austria took on Ghana on Friday evening, who will face Germany in Stuttgart on Monday. Dortmund’s Marcel Sabitzer opened the scoring with a penalty kick (12th), who also scored two more goals. After the break, Michael Gregoritsch (51′) and Stefan Posch (59′) increased before Jordan Ayew shortened (77′).
Two minutes after Ghana’s goal there was a co-production by BVB professionals Sabitzer and Chukwuemeka, which made it 4-1 (79′). Chukwuemeka, who was born in Vienna, decided against England and Austria at the beginning of March, although he had gone through all of the Three Lions’ youth teams from the U17 to the U20. He came on in the 61st minute for Christoph Baumgartner. RB Leipzig’s Nicolas Seiwald scored the final point in stoppage time (90+2).
