Austria is done with the drunken adventures of winter sports enthusiasts and puts ax to après-ski: ‘A ski slope is not an amusement park’

The Austrian authorities in Kaprun had their hands full last February with the drunken adventures of a Dutchman. The Alpine police had to search in the pitch dark for the 37-year-old man who, in an apparent state, had lost his partner on the already closed slope and had not arrived in the valley. Fortunately, he did answer his phone, but no one could make a joke of his description of the area. And so the agents had to comb the slopes from the mountain hut where the booze had flowed. They found his skis and footsteps eventually led to the drunken wanderer.
