Finn Dahmen has achieved a milestone: the 26-year-old from FC Augsburg has kept his box clean for 613 minutes and made it into the top ten in the eternal leaderboard.
Finn Dahmen from FC Augsburg has been 1-0 (0-0) of his team against VfL Wolfsburg for more than ten hours without a goal in the Bundesliga. With 613 minutes, the 26-year-old moved to tenth in the eternal leaderboard.
He leaves as prominent names as Uli Stein or Jens Lehmann behind. “It’s amazing. It is just a lot of fun with the team at the moment and now we just try to keep this run as long as possible,” said Dahmen in the sports show interview.
FC Augsburg is the second best second half of the season, undefeated for ten games – also thanks to Finn Dahmen. “Finn makes it outstanding, that’s great,” enthused Augsburg coach Jess Thorup.
Dahmen also holds a negative record – “somehow crazy”
In 2023 Dahmen came to FC Augsburg – and started with a negative record: From 2020 to 2024, Dahmen first completed 35 Bundesliga games in the FSV Mainz 05 jersey and then in the jersey of FC Augsburg, without having played only once. He has held a Bundesliga record since February 17, 2024.
And now the U21 European champion from 2021 has been without a goal for ten hours. This shows how brutal football can be – last season he was heavily criticized because he could not keep the box clean, now he is cheered for his 613 minutes without conceding a goal. “Somewhere it is crazy. It shows how quickly it can go in football. Nevertheless, it was also a successful season last year, so I was also satisfied with my first season and of course it was good to break the spell. Keeping the zero is a nice thing, but is not my main goal.”
Dahmen dreams of Europe?
After the Augsburg high flight, is the main goal of Dahmen? Does the 26-year-old dream of Europe? “Of course you can always dream and we are in a flow right now and now we just try to keep this flow.”
Dahmen’s play strength: More than just a goalkeeper
The 26-year-old not only shines on the line, he is also able to build the game. Dahmen is a modern, strong goalkeeper. At 1.86 meters, it is not necessarily one of the largest keepers. For Dahmen, the lack of size is “not decisive” and certainly not a disadvantage. “As a smaller goalkeeper, you have the advantage that you are more flexible and faster. As greater, you have more reach,” Dahmen once said in a BR24Sport interview.
