There is trouble with the combined people. The reason for this is a German protest and a Norwegian star that gets upset.
When it comes to medals, the fun stops. This is currently also evident in the Nordic Ski World Cup and combining. On Saturday, the Norwegian star Jarl Magnus Riiber won gold from the normal hill ahead of his team -mate Jens Lurås AUSTEBRO. Bronze won a German with Vinzenz Geiger. His teammate Julian Schmid was fourth. After the competition, the German Ski Association (DSV) took a protest because Freestebro is said to have crossed the route limit with a ski. That made the world champion more than angry.
Riiber now attacked the DSV sharply, said the Norwegian newspaper “Dagbladet”: “I am really bad and I get a lot of adrenaline when I think about how to behave so badly. This is disgusting.” The DSV objection was rejected. Nevertheless, Riiber continued to get upset: “Something like that is simply unsportsmanlike.”
Oftenbro also showed little understanding. The 24-year-old said: “You just tried it to get another medal. You are welcome to try that, but we Norwegians would not have done it that way.” According to the second place, the German team later apologized to him. At the press conference, Geiger briefly commented on the subject: “I don’t understand the protest, I can’t say anymore.”
The German sports director Horst Hüttel justified the protest compared to the SID. He could understand Riiber’s trouble, but said: “Ultimately, we have to work for our athletes.” According to Hüttel, Italians and Austrians pointed out the Germans to a possible violation of the rules. After consultation with Julian Schmid, you finally gave the World Association FIS.
Hüttel stated: “There it was said that you had no handling, a protest was needed.” Since the objection period was only 15 minutes, it was quickly traded. The exam showed that FreeBro had left the route twice, but this was not sufficient for a sanction. Hüttel said that he later communicated with Norway’s sports director Ivar Stuan: “I explained this to him and we are fine with each other.”
