Tennis professional Alexander Zverev missed out on making it to the final at the ATP tournament in Los Cabos, Mexico.
The 26-year-old somewhat surprisingly lost to Australian Jordan Thompson 5:7, 6:4 in the semifinals on Saturday (February 24, 2024) after almost four hours of play. 6:7 (2:7).
In the marathon encounter, Zverev, who was top seed in the tournament, fended off five match points before the tiebreak of the last set. But after that he couldn’t do anything more, the 29-year-old Australian took his chance.
Thompson in the final against Casper Ruud
The world number 40. Thompson will face Casper Ruud in his first final on the ATP tour on Sunday. The Norwegian defeated defending champion Stefanos Tsitsipas from Greece.
