Atlético Madrid beat Porto after sensational final phase

Atlético Madrid has won against Porto after a sensational final phase in the Champions League. It became 2-1 in Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid, where it was still 0-0 after regular time.

Mario Hermoso only put Atlético at 1-0 in the 91st minute and seemed to become the celebrated man. Hermoso lashed out with the left and the ball disappeared over goalkeeper Diogo Costa via the leg of a player from Porto. Hermoso came on in the 68th minute for Alvaro Morata.

In the 96th minute, however, the same Hermoso made a handball in his own penalty area, giving Porto another penalty. It was used by Colombian Mateus Uribe. And it didn’t stop there. In the final seconds of the game, after having played more than 100 minutes, Antoine Griezmann headed home for Atlético. Griezmann came in after an hour.

ten men

Porto ended the game with ten men after a red card for Mehdi Taremi from Iran. 10 minutes before the end, he received his second yellow card for a schwalbe.

In the same group, Club Brugge beat Bayer Leverkusen 1-0. Abakar Sylla scored the only goal of the evening in Bruges. Just before half time, he headed in from a corner. Finnish goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky appeared to turn the ball, but worked the ball into his own goal through a clumsy action.
